We're having fun starting out the new year with some clay fun. 4th grade will be starting slab pottery and 3rd grade will be doing coil pottery soon. Lots of happy faces this week!
We recently used Sign Up Genius to create an easy-to-use form to volunteer with helping put up displays around our school building. Our students are creating some amazing artwork!! We often have good intentions but not enough time to get student work hung around the building. Please consider choosing a time to come help us celebrate our students' creativity and show it off to our OES family and those visiting our building by putting up a display.
We have display guidelines and materials to help you help us!! Here's a website that gives you some ideas of things we're planning for interactive and informative displays. The Art of Education: Ways to take your hallway displays to the next level primary colors1st grade classes learned about the primary colors of red, yellow and blue. Afterward we started learning about the secondary colors of orange, green and purple (Miss Bartlett's favorite!) and color MIXING!! Warm & Cool2nd graders learned about warm colors and cool colors as well as landscapes and cityscapes. After drawing cool cityscapes and warm landscapes they created a crayon resist by coloring hard with the crayons and then watercolor painting each picture with the opposite color temperature. Well, on this snowy day we've been working on uploading some new artwork to our Artsonia site. If you have not been to check it out you should stop in to see the past and present work of our students.
5th graders have been working on a texture unit culminating with a ceramic texture tile assignment. Students have been painting these with acrylic paint to really bring them to life! To see the results check out our online Artsonia gallery. You can get there via our ARTWORK ON DISPLAY! page link to the left. I have also attached a direct link below for your convenience. More will be added soon as students finish with their final details. Enjoy! Ceramic Texture Tiles (5th) Stay warm and use this time to do something creative!! ;) The art room is in need of any interested volunteers.
*We are looking for someone with a knack for setting up displays with mad tape rolling skills. This person would help out the art room by putting up class displays around the building. *We are also looking for someone tech savvy interested in photographing artwork. We would love to use our online Artsonia gallery as a digital portfolio for students. This requires photographing artwork, uploading images and entering artwork information. If you have any interest in helping out a couple of awesome art teachers please comment, call, or shoot us an email!! THANKS! Stay updated on what’s happening in the Art Room! We plan to let you know what projects we are currently working on in the classroom as well as post pictures (when we can). Send us an email and let us know what you think. Thanks!
